How to Convert MP4 to WebM for Online Sharing

The latest web standard – HTML 5, with CSS3 and JavaScript, is believed to replace the older standards before long. HTML 5 web pages are far cry from sites that applied with older standards, for example, HTML sites usually use flash players to deliver videos like others, but they mostly requires videos in WebM format instead of FLV. WebM is kind of audio-video format designed especially for using on HTML 5 pages. WebM videos provide videos in HD quality while their sizes are much smaller than MKV, MP4 and so on. Thus, today the biggest online video sharing sites YouTube has already taken the advantages of WebM videos as part of its HTML 5 player experiment. If you want to design an HTML page or share your videos on YouTube, you may need WebM videos.

This article mainly focuses on the conversion between .MP4 and .WebM and will show you the effective way on how to convert MP4 to WebM on both Window and Mac platform (Windows 8 and Mac Mountain Lion included). On this tutorial, we will use Doremisoft .MP4 to .WebM Video Converter (Video Converter for Mac) to have the conversion done. After the conversion, you can upload or add them to any HTML 5 sites.

After launching the program, locate the original MP4 movies from the folder you saved them by using the "Add Files" option. You can select multiple files at one time for a batch conversion.

Now please choose WebM as the output format from the "Web share" tab in the "Convert to" menu bar. Besides, you can customize the conversion up to your needs by adjusting the bit rate, frame rate, sound quality and effects.
